The research of the Laboratory of Structure and Dynamics of Plankton Communities (Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, RAS) addresses key problems of modern oceanography and marine biology. Our work covers a wide range of topics, from the evolutionary morphology of higher crustaceans to biogeographic patterns in different regions of the World Ocean. Thanks to the support of leading scientific foundations, including the Russian Science Foundation (RSF), we carry out large-scale projects on the biodiversity of the pelagic zone, the assessment of plankton stocks and the role of the biological carbon pump. Below is a list of current and successfully completed grants. Their results make a significant contribution to understanding the structure and dynamics of ocean ecosystems from the surface to the deep-sea layers.
